We've realized that one of the highlights of our events is the family participation we offer. We've improved The Scotiabank Children’s Challenge by offering on-line registration line just like you do! Registration is $5.00, or $15 with a Souvenir T-shirts, with the same Early Bird incentives in effect (register before April 1st for all 5 and get the 5th race for free!). With an official 50 m and 1 km option let your munchkin’s burn off that excess steam before you head out on the race course yourself! Who knows… soon they’ll be challenging you in our Sport category! (Open to all children under 10 who can run without parental supervision for up to 1km)

All participants receive a finisher's ribbon at the finish line. We do not offer competitive age categories. Registration is available online, and on race day morning and a parent/guardian must sign a waiver. Race will start a 1/2 hour before the Sport and Enduro events. Don't miss this race day favorite!

Check this out! With all the new sponsors, and concentration your overall value, this year we have even more great prizes to give away! All runners are eligible for over $50,000 worth of prizes throughout the series, through random draws, top place finishers or Series Championships. Make sure you race as many times as possible so you can capitalize on all the great gear we have lined up this year!!!...Remember you have to be there to win! Similar to previous years though, we'll also be giving away awards and prizes to the top 3 finishers in each distance at each race.

We'll also be tabulating points for the top 15 finishers in each race, and each age category with points contributing towards to the Series Championships. The more points you have at the end of the year, the better.

We'll be awarding Salomon sponsored gear to the top 3 Overall Series Champions in both Sport and Enduro courses. In addition we'll have a combination of gift certificates, and limited edition 5 Peaks plaques/trophies for the top three in each age group.

Salomon XT Wings

The Salomon XT Wings are just one of the many great prizes we have to give away each and every race! (pictured to the right). )

The perfectly balanced combination of two opposing concepts - cushioning and agility - is the most difficult problem to solve in trail running shoe design. This is Salomon's most balanced achievement thus far.

Series Championships:

  • Series Awards & Points Race: At the completion of each race, points will be given to the top 15 runners in each race (15 points for a 1st place finish...1 point for a 15th place finish). Your top 4 finishes of 5 races in a series will count toward the series championship. So, the more races you compete in, the better your chances to qualify to be a champion! Note: The best 4 finishes within a series will be used to score points towards the series title. Racers must participate in a minimum of three 5 Peaks races of the same distance within a series in order to qualify. In the event of a tie, times on common races between tied racers will be compared, and the win will go to the racer with the best overall time on those events only. The ½ marathon distance may not be used in the points race standings.

  • Series Champions award presentations take place after the final race in each series.

  • Salomon sponsored prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female finishers in both distance categories will be handed out at the end of the overall series! Great awards will also be given to the top 3 age group winners.

New Charity Partner

Currently, less than 10% of Canada's wilderness is protected. That's why MEC and the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) founded The Big Wild initiative. They want to mobilize Canadians to demonstrate support for the protection of Canada's publicly-owned wilderness. The vision of the movement is that Canada will protect at least half of our wilderness from industrial development. Donations to The Big Wild are deposited into a charitable fund established to support wilderness conservation campaigns. (Charitable donation receipts will be issued for all donations over $50.00). We want to ensure that at least half of Canada's lands and waters remain permanently wild. For more information please visit www.thebigwild.org.
